National

• The Union Cabinet has approved a Rs 6,000 crore sub-scheme under the flagship Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) aimed at formalizing the country’s largely unorganized fisheries sector.
• केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने देश के बड़े पैमाने पर असंगठित मत्स्य पालन क्षेत्र को औपचारिक बनाने के उद्देश्य से प्रमुख प्रधान मंत्री मत्स्य सम्पदा योजना (पीएमएमएसवाई) के तहत 6,000 करोड़ रुपये की उप-योजना को मंजूरी दे दी है।

• The Central Government has launched a portal ‘Sarathi’ which aims to help insurance companies reach farmers and rural people with tailored products as well as government subsidized insurance products including Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).

• The Uttar Pradesh government will set up the country’s first conservation center for the Gangatiri breed of cows in Varanasi.

• The Russian military recently launched a 3M22 Zircon missile targeting Kiev. The 3M22 Zircon is a scramjet-powered hypersonic cruise missile developed in Russia, capable of speeds up to Mach 9 and a range of 1000 km.
• रूसी सेना ने हाल ही में कीव को निशाना बनाकर 3M22 जिरकॉन मिसाइल लॉन्च की है। 3M22 जिरकॉन रूस में विकसित एक स्क्रैमजेट-संचालित हाइपरसोनिक क्रूज मिसाइल है, जो मैक 9 तक की गति और 1000 किमी की दूरी तक मार करने में सक्षम है।

• National Book Trust in collaboration with India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) organized the New Delhi Book Fair, from 10th to 18th February 2024 at Pragati Maidan.

• India’s logistics performance has improved significantly, ranking 38th out of 139 countries in the World Bank’s 2023 Logistics Performance Index, up six places from 2018 and sixteen places from 2014.
• भारत के लॉजिस्टिक्स प्रदर्शन में उल्लेखनीय सुधार हुआ है, विश्व बैंक के 2023 लॉजिस्टिक्स प्रदर्शन सूचकांक में 139 देशों में से 38वें स्थान पर, 2018 से छह स्थान और 2014 से सोलह स्थान ऊपर है।

• Sikkim became the first state in the Northeast to reinstate the old pension scheme for employees.

• According to data released by the RBI on February 9, India’s foreign exchange reserves reached $622.47 billion.

• The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $200 million loan to strengthen flood and river erosion risk management along the Brahmaputra River in Assam, India.
• एशियाई विकास बैंक (एडीबी) ने भारत के असम में ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी के किनारे बाढ़ और नदी कटाव जोखिम प्रबंधन को मजबूत करने के लिए 200 मिलियन डॉलर के ऋण को मंजूरी दी है।

Technology

• Uttar Pradesh announced the establishment of two Centers of Excellence (CoE) dedicated to research and innovation in green hydrogen.
  • These CoEs will be under the purview of the UP New and Renewable Energy Development Agency, which will carry out strategic work on the advancement of green hydrogen technology.
• उत्तर प्रदेश ने हरित हाइड्रोजन में अनुसंधान और नवाचार के लिए समर्पित दो उत्कृष्टता केंद्र (सीओई) की स्थापना की घोषणा की। ये सीओई यूपी नवीन और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा विकास एजेंसी के दायरे में होंगे, जो हरित हाइड्रोजन प्रौद्योगिकी की उन्नति पर रणनीतिक कार्य करेगी।

• The strategic partnership between Embraer and Mahindra aims to meet the modernization needs of the Indian Air Force fleet through the acquisition of C-390 aircraft.
  • The C-390 Millennium aircraft has a 26-ton payload capacity, making it suitable for a variety of missions including cargo and troop transport, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting and humanitarian efforts.
• एम्ब्रेयर और महिंद्रा के बीच रणनीतिक साझेदारी का लक्ष्य सी-390 विमान के अधिग्रहण के माध्यम से भारतीय वायु सेना के बेड़े की आधुनिकीकरण जरूरतों को पूरा करना है।

• The SAFF Women’s Under-19 Championship ended in chaos as India and Bangladesh were declared joint winners.
  • After a 1-1 draw and the toss in India’s favour, the match commissioner overturned the decision due to protests, resulting in both teams sharing the trophy. India won the fourth age group title.
• SAFF महिला अंडर-19 चैम्पियनशिप अराजकता में समाप्त हो गई क्योंकि भारत और बांग्लादेश को संयुक्त विजेता घोषित किया गया।

• India ranks third in the US Green Building Council’s (USGBC) annual list of the world’s top 10 countries and regions for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification in 2023.

• Renowned music composer Pyarelal Sharma has been honored with the Laxminarayan International Award at the Global Music Festival.
  • Performed by L Subramaniam and Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam, Pyarelal is a highly successful Hindi film composer with a career spanning eight decades. This award is given for his outstanding contribution to the world of music.
