National

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Under this scheme, up to 300 units of free electricity will be provided to one crore households.
  • More than ₹75,000 crore will be spent on this scheme. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced plans to install solar panels in the Interim Budget 2024-25.
• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने पीएम सूर्य घर मुफ्त बिजली योजना लॉन्च की है. इस योजना के तहत एक करोड़ घरों को 300 यूनिट तक मुफ्त बिजली दी जाएगी।
  • इस योजना पर 75,000 करोड़ रुपये से ज्यादा खर्च होंगे. केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने अंतरिम बजट 2024-25 में सोलर पैनल लगाने की योजना की घोषणा की थी।

Economics

• The urban unemployment rate declined to 6.5% from 6.6% in the previous quarter. While the unemployment rate among women remained steady at 8.6%, among men it fell to 5.8% from 6% in the previous quarter.
• शहरी बेरोजगारी दर पिछली तिमाही के 6.6% से घटकर 6.5% हो गई। जहां महिलाओं के बीच बेरोजगारी दर 8.6% पर स्थिर रही, वहीं पुरुषों के बीच यह पिछली तिमाही के 6% से गिरकर 5.8% हो गई।

• In January 2024, India’s retail inflation rate touched a three-month low of 5.1%, while the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) showed a growth of 3.8% in December 2023, showing a favorable trend in both sectors.

• The Ministry of Education signed an agreement with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to promote the game of football at the school level in the country.
  • Under this, the Ministry of Education will distribute 11 lakh footballs across the country in a phased manner. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on February 9 distributed footballs to 1,260 schools in 17 districts of Odisha under the Football for Schools (F4S) programme.
• शिक्षा मंत्रालय ने देश में स्कूल स्तर पर फुटबॉल के खेल को बढ़ावा देने के लिए फेडरेशन इंटरनेशनेल डी फुटबॉल एसोसिएशन (फीफा) के साथ एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

• Former Indian captain Dattajiro Krishnarao Gaikwad passed away recently. He was 95 years old. He was known as the oldest Indian cricketer before his death.
  • Gaikwad represented Baroda in first-class cricket and under his leadership the team won the Ranji title in the 1957–58 season.
    • पूर्व भारतीय कप्तान दत्ताजीरो कृष्णराव गायकवाड़ का हाल ही में निधन हो गया। वह 95 वर्ष के थे. अपनी मृत्यु से पहले वह सबसे उम्रदराज़ भारतीय क्रिकेटर के रूप में जाने जाते थे। गायकवाड़ ने प्रथम श्रेणी क्रिकेट में बड़ौदा का प्रतिनिधित्व किया और उनके नेतृत्व में टीम ने 1957-58 सीज़न में रणजी खिताब जीता।
