National

• The Indian Navy has declared 2024 as the ‘Year of Naval Civilians’ to improve governance, efficiency and welfare of naval civilians by addressing all aspects of civilian human resource management in a time-bound manner.
• भारतीय नौसेना ने समयबद्ध तरीके से नागरिक मानव संसाधन प्रबंधन के सभी पहलुओं को संबोधित करके नौसैनिक नागरिकों के शासन, दक्षता और कल्याण में सुधार के लिए 2024 को ‘नौसेना नागरिकों का वर्ष’ घोषित किया है।

• The Uttar Pradesh government will launch the annual Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaign to eradicate filariasis from February 5 to 15.
  • This campaign will be implemented in 17 districts of the state as part of the filarias eradication campaign in the state.
  • During the campaign, skilled health workers will go door to door and administer drugs for the prevention of filariasis to the entire population.
• उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार 5 से 15 फरवरी तक फाइलेरिया उन्मूलन के लिए वार्षिक मास ड्रग एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन (एमडीए) अभियान शुरू करेगी। राज्य में फाइलेरिया उन्मूलन अभियान के तहत यह अभियान राज्य के 17 जिलों में चलाया जायेगा. अभियान के दौरान कुशल स्वास्थ्य कर्मी घर-घर जाकर पूरी आबादी को फाइलेरिया की रोकथाम के लिए दवा खिलाएंगे।

• To modernize Indian Railways, the Center has announced an ambitious program to upgrade 40,000 standard railway coaches to Vande Bharat standards.
  • The initiative, announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Interim Budget for the financial year 2024-25 (FY25), aims to enhance safety, convenience and comfort in rail travel and provide a boost to private sector rail manufacturers through new means.
• भारतीय रेलवे को आधुनिक बनाने के लिए, केंद्र ने 40,000 मानक रेलवे डिब्बों को वंदे भारत मानकों पर अपग्रेड करने के लिए एक महत्वाकांक्षी कार्यक्रम की घोषणा की है।

  • LK Advani served as the 7th Deputy Prime Minister of India from 2002 to 2004. He is one of the co-founders of the BJP and a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

• In response to rising rice prices, the Government of India has unveiled the ‘Bharat’ brand of rice, which aims to address market volatility and ensure consumer affordability.
  • Rice will be available at ₹ 29 per kg in 5- and 10-kg packs through cooperatives like NAFED, NCCF and Kendriya Bhandar.

  • The area connects the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve with the Male Mahadeshwara Hills Tiger Reserve and Kaveri Wildlife Sanctuary, forming an important corridor for the tiger population.

• The Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct exercise Vayu Shakti-24 on February 17, 2024 at the Pokhran Air to Ground Range near Jaisalmer.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that 97.5 per cent of the Rs 2,000 notes have returned to the banking system and only Rs 8,897 crore of the withdrawn notes are still with the public.
  • On 19 May 2023, the RBI announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes from circulation.
• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) ने घोषणा की है कि 2,000 रुपये के 97.5 प्रतिशत नोट बैंकिंग प्रणाली में वापस आ गए हैं और वापस लिए गए नोटों में से केवल 8,897 करोड़ रुपये अभी भी जनता के पास हैं।
  • 19 मई 2023 को आरबीआई ने 2,000 रुपये के नोटों को प्रचलन से वापस लेने की घोषणा की।

• Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi launched C-CARES web portal for Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization (CMPFO).
  • Developed by C-DAC, it aims to digitize records and streamline processes for 3.3 lakh provident fund members and 6.1 lakh pensioners in the coal sector.
• केंद्रीय मंत्री श्री प्रल्हाद जोशी ने कोयला खदान भविष्य निधि संगठन (सीएमपीएफओ) के लिए सी-केयर्स वेब पोर्टल लॉन्च किया।
  • सी-डैक द्वारा विकसित, इसका लक्ष्य कोयला क्षेत्र में 3.3 लाख भविष्य निधि सदस्यों और 6.1 लाख पेंशनभोगियों के लिए रिकॉर्ड को डिजिटल बनाना और प्रक्रियाओं को सुव्यवस्थित करना है।

• The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has announced the establishment of a state-of-the-art centralized GIS data center in Ayodhya under the Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA).
