• France is the first country in the European Union to issue digital Schengen visas.
  • There are specific eligibility criteria for non-EU citizens seeking a digital visa.
  • Digital visas will replace stickers with cryptographically signed barcodes. Schengen countries are part of the ‘Schengen Agreement’ established in 1995.
• फ़्रांस यूरोपीय संघ में डिजिटल शेंगेन वीज़ा जारी करने वाला पहला देश है। डिजिटल वीज़ा चाहने वाले गैर-यूरोपीय संघ के नागरिकों के लिए विशिष्ट पात्रता मानदंड हैं। डिजिटल वीज़ा क्रिप्टोग्राफ़िक रूप से हस्ताक्षरित बारकोड वाले स्टिकर की जगह लेगा। शेंगेन देश 1995 में स्थापित ‘शेंगेन समझौते’ का हिस्सा हैं।

• Veteran Indian musicians Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain won the Grammy Award in the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category for their fusion band Shakti’s album ‘This Moment’.
  • ‘This Moment’ released on 30 June 2023. Taylor Swift won Album of the Year for Midnights. The 66th Annual Grammy Awards 2024 was held in Los Angeles.
• अनुभवी भारतीय संगीतकार शंकर महादेवन और जाकिर हुसैन ने अपने फ्यूजन बैंड शक्ति के एल्बम ‘दिस मोमेंट’ के लिए ‘बेस्ट ग्लोबल म्यूजिक एल्बम’ श्रेणी में ग्रैमी पुरस्कार जीता। ‘दिस मोमेंट’ 30 जून 2023 को रिलीज हुई थी। टेलर स्विफ्ट ने मिडनाइट्स के लिए वर्ष का सर्वश्रेष्ठ एल्बम जीता। 66वां वार्षिक ग्रैमी अवार्ड्स 2024 लॉस एंजिल्स में आयोजित किया गया।

• Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko has set a new world record for the longest time spent in space with 878 days, or more than two and a half years.
  • Oleg Kononenko surpassed compatriot Gennady Padalka’s record. Oleg Kononenko began his space career as an engineer and made his first space flight in 2008, according to the European Space Agency.
• रूसी अंतरिक्ष यात्री ओलेग कोनोनेंको ने अंतरिक्ष में सबसे लंबे समय तक 878 दिन यानी ढाई साल से अधिक समय बिताने का नया विश्व रिकॉर्ड बनाया है। ओलेग कोनोनेंको ने हमवतन गेन्नेडी पैडाल्का के रिकॉर्ड को पीछे छोड़ दिया। यूरोपीय अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी के अनुसार, ओलेग कोनोनेंको ने एक इंजीनियर के रूप में अपना अंतरिक्ष करियर शुरू किया और 2008 में अपनी पहली अंतरिक्ष उड़ान भरी।

• Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Banwarilal Purohit has resigned from his post citing “personal reasons”.
• पंजाब के राज्यपाल और चंडीगढ़ के प्रशासक बनवारीलाल पुरोहित ने “व्यक्तिगत कारणों” का हवाला देते हुए अपने पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया है।

• The Government of India has decided to significantly increase the issuance of Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGB) for the coming financial year.
• भारत सरकार ने आगामी वित्तीय वर्ष के लिए सॉवरेन गोल्ड बॉन्ड (एसजीबी) जारी करने में उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि करने का निर्णय लिया है।

• According to RBI’s index of adoption of online transactions, digital payments across the country registered a growth of 10.94 per cent in the year to March 2023.
• आरबीआई के ऑनलाइन लेनदेन को अपनाने के सूचकांक के अनुसार, देश भर में डिजिटल भुगतान में मार्च 2023 तक 10.94 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि दर्ज की गई।

• Bandhan Bank has appointed HDFC Sales Pvt Ltd CEO Santosh Nair as Head of Consumer Loans and Mortgages.

• NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) recently announced that UPI users can now purchase tickets for the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
  • France has become the first European country to accept digital payments from India.
  • For this, NIPL has partnered with France’s Lyra e-commerce. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) launched UPI in 2016.
• एनपीसीआई इंटरनेशनल पेमेंट्स लिमिटेड (एनआईपीएल) ने हाल ही में घोषणा की कि यूपीआई उपयोगकर्ता अब पेरिस में एफिल टॉवर के लिए टिकट खरीद सकते हैं। फ्रांस भारत से डिजिटल भुगतान स्वीकार करने वाला पहला यूरोपीय देश बन गया है। इसके लिए एनआईपीएल ने फ्रांस की लायरा ई-कॉमर्स के साथ साझेदारी की है। नेशनल पेमेंट्स कॉरपोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया (NPCI) ने 2016 में UPI लॉन्च किया।

• India finished fifth in the FIH Hockey 5 World Cup. Netherlands has won the Men’s Hockey5s World Cup 2024 by defeating Malaysia to win the trophy.
• FIH हॉकी 5 विश्व कप में भारत पांचवें स्थान पर रहा। नीदरलैंड ने मलेशिया को हराकर पुरुष हॉकी5एस विश्व कप 2024 की ट्रॉफी अपने नाम कर ली है।

Awards

• Justice Ritu Bahri has been appointed as the first woman Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.
  • Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmeet Singh administered the oath to Justice Ritu Bahri in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.
  • He replaced former Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi. In October last year, Justice Ritu Bahri was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
• न्यायमूर्ति रितु बाहरी को उत्तराखंड उच्च न्यायालय की पहली महिला मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया है। राज्यपाल लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल (सेवानिवृत्त) गुरमीत सिंह ने राजभवन में आयोजित एक समारोह में न्यायमूर्ति रितु बाहरी को शपथ दिलाई। उन्होंने पूर्व मुख्य न्यायाधीश विपिन सांघी का स्थान लिया। पिछले साल अक्टूबर में, न्यायमूर्ति रितु बाहरी को पंजाब और हरियाणा उच्च न्यायालय के कार्यवाहक मुख्य न्यायाधीश के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया था।

• REC Limited, a Maharatna Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has been awarded the prestigious Best Green Bond – Corporate Award at the Asset Triple A Awards for Sustainable Finance 2024.
  • REC received an award in April for issuing a $750 million USD green bond. 2023, which was also India’s first USD green bond.
• ऊर्जा मंत्रालय के अधीन एक महारत्न उद्यम आरईसी लिमिटेड को एसेट ट्रिपल ए अवार्ड्स फॉर सस्टेनेबल फाइनेंस 2024 में प्रतिष्ठित सर्वश्रेष्ठ ग्रीन बॉन्ड – कॉर्पोरेट पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया है। आरईसी को $750 मिलियन अमरीकी डालर का ग्रीन बांड जारी करने के लिए अप्रैल में एक पुरस्कार मिला था। 2023, जो भारत का पहला USD ग्रीन बांड भी था।

  • Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra has approved the appointment of new Advocate General.
  • The Jodhpur High Court recently sought a reply from the state government in this regard, following which Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma appointed the new advocate general.
• राजेंद्र प्रसाद को राजस्थान का नया महाधिवक्ता नियुक्त किया गया है. राजस्थान के राज्यपाल कलराज मिश्र ने नए महाधिवक्ता की नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दे दी है. जोधपुर हाई कोर्ट ने हाल ही में इस संबंध में राज्य सरकार से जवाब मांगा था, जिसके बाद मुख्यमंत्री भजन लाल शर्मा ने नए महाधिवक्ता की नियुक्ति की.

• Namibian President Hage Geingob has died at the age of 82 in Windhoek.
• नामीबिया के राष्ट्रपति हेज गिंगोब का 82 वर्ष की आयु में विंडहोक में निधन हो गया।
